Founded in 2005 by six women from different club teams in the Philadelphia Field Hockey Association, Team Philly has become a well-respected team on the U.S. tournament circuit. We play year-round in women's and mixed competitions on turf, grass and indoor, in leagues and tournaments throughout the United States. When we first came together to compete in the USFHA Club Cup Championship, we were still learning each other's names. By the end of that weekend, we were invited to play in the JFK tournament. Since then, we have formed a close bond and have worked hard to become a competitive team, with a reputation among other field hockey teams and officials for good sportsmanship. We foster close relationships with other clubs from around the country and are pleased to be invited regularly to participate in competitions they host. In, 2006 we hosted our own tournament, drawing teams from as far away as Dallas and Chicago, and we plan to host an indoor tournament in 2008. Our roster includes players from Philadelphia and the surrounding suburbs. Our players range in age from 23 to 38 years old with experience on high school state championship teams and in Division I and III programs. We are teachers, coaches, sales professionals, lawyers, doctors and accountants who share a love for field hockey and hope to continue to play for many years to come.
